In a thrilling match that saw both teams put in their best efforts to secure a victory, Union Berlin and 1. FC Köln found themselves locked in a tight battle at the Olympiastadion on Saturday evening.
The game began with both sides looking to establish control over the midfield, with Union Berlin's playmaker, André-Pierre Gignac, causing problems for the Cologne defense. However, it was the visitors who took the lead first through a well-placed header from Brazilian midfielder, Marcelo Oliveira.
Union Berlin responded quickly and managed to level the scoreline through a clinical finish by striker, Robert Lewandowski. The Polish international had been in fine form throughout the match, and his goal was enough to send the crowd into ecstasy.
However, Cologne did not give up easily and mounted a counterattack just moments later, with Brazilian winger, Bruno Henrique, finding space on the right wing to fire home a powerful shot past goalkeeper, Julian Sperber.
Despite being behind, Union Berlin refused to concede and continued to press forward, with Lewandowski once again showing his class by scoring another brilliant goal, this time from close range.
The match eventually ended in a draw, with neither side able to find the winning goal. However, it was clear that both teams had put in a tremendous effort and were determined to take all three points from the game.
